Welcome to the official website of the UK Cuban Salsa Congress in Bournemouth - the South Coasts premier Cuban Salsa Dance event.
This exciting 3-day event takes place on 25-27th July 2008 in the historic Pavilion Ballroom in Bournemouth, one of the UKs top tourist and seaside destinations.
Featuring over 40 hours of daytime dance workshops with some of the very best Cuban Salsa teachers in the UK and Europe, 3 spectacular late night Salsa Parties featuring music and shows by the UKs hottest Cuban Salsa performers and DJs, loads of Havana Club Rum plus 7 miles of glorious sandy beaches, this is the nearest you will get to Cuba in the UK!

The sultry sounds of a tropical paradise come to mind when one hears the pulsing rhythms and sweet melodies of LA CUBA RITMO brings the rhythm to life with Timbales, congas, bongos, Timbales, Bass and Piano.
The constant heartbeat can be felt throughout LA CUBA RITMO'S performance. Playing authentic Cuban rhythms such as Son, Timba, Cha Cha Cha & Salsa, LA CUBA RITMO keeps the audience moving and revives the feeling of a bygone but not forgotten era.

Rumberos de Cuba are currently one of Cubas top folkloric groups. As well as rumba, they also perform Yoruba music and dance, and rhythms from other Afro-Cuban traditions.
Rumberos De Cuba will be performing 50 minutes Show at The Congress.

UK-CUBAN SALSA CONGRESS CHAMPIONSHIP 2008

Salsa Explosion is pleased to announce that we will be holding our first ever Cuban Salsa Amateur Dance Championship at this years Cuban Salsa Congress in Bournemouth with a top prize of a trip for 2 people to Havana, courtesy of Explore Latin Carib.
The competition is open to all amateurs, defined as people who do not make a living (less than 100 per week) from dance tuition or performance, and will consist of an open qualifying heat at the Congress at 6pm on Saturday the 26th July followed by a Grand Final in front of our fabulous congress audience and international judges at 10pm on Sunday the 27thof July.
The winners will be crowned Cuban Salsa Congress Amateur Dance Champions 2008 and will win a free trip to Havana, courtesy of Explore Latin Carib. Furthermore the winners will also gain automatic entry to the London Latinfest Salsa Championship Final to be held in London on Saturday the 24th of August with prizes worth in excess of 8000!
Both the qualifying heat and the Grand Final will be based on a freestyle format to a popular Cuban Salsa track so find a partner, get practising and you could be clicking your Cuban heels all the way to Havana!
Terms & Conditions
1. Entrants must be over 18 years of age and resident in the UK
2. Entrants must be in possession of valid tickets/passes for the Cuban Salsa Congress in order to gain entry to the venue at the times in which the competition will take place
3. The prize consist of 2 Return Tickets on Virgin Atlantic Airways from London Gatwick to Havana plus 3 Nights Bed & Breakfast accommodation at the 4* deluxe Occidental Miramar Hotel (The winners will be responsible for paying all airport taxes)
4. The prize is valid for 11 months for departures in September/October/November/ January/February/till the 15th of March 09 and from the 10th of April until the end of June 09.
5. The prize is not transferable and cannot be sold or exchanged for cash
6. The winners are responsible for ensuring that they and their partners hold valid passports and any necessary visas for the trip in question.
7. Insurance and transfers to and from airports is not included.
